3D Laser Scanning

Terramap’s FARO 330 is an Ultra High Definition 3D Laser Scanner with a range of almost three times greater than previous models.  It is capable of scanning in direct sunlight.  With its integrated GPS receiver, the Laser Scanner is able to correlate individual scans in post-processing making it ideal for surveying in multiple applications and industries.

Specifications

  • Distance accuracy up to +/- 2mm
  • Range from 0.6m up to 330m
  • Integrated colour camera – up to 70 mio. Pixel
  • Laser class 1
  • Multi-Sensor: GPS, Compass, Height Sensor, Dual Axis Compensator

Terramap laser scan of a treatment plant showing typical density of the points. All coloured points are survey accurate, and enable the user to obtain measurements to a very high level of precision.

Benefits include

Survey detail.  Anything within view of the scan setup is captured, enabling unlimited QA checks to be performed in the office post survey.
Very high accuracy.
Visual representation – a coloured point cloud enables a 3d view of the entire site.
Enables the survey of otherwise inaccessible features.
Reduce survey site visits. Often during conventional survey additional requests are received for further survey as queries arise during design/construction phase. With a laser scan survey, this data will generally be captured within the first site survey.
Cost, comparable to that of a conventional survey.
Speed, faster than a conventional survey.

Applications:

As-Built Documentation
Scanning of large or distant objects
Project Supervision
Deformation monitoring
Large volume calculation
Quality control
Progress monitoring

Another example of typical survey point density collected at a Terramap laser scan of a treatment plant.
